US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine, not Russia, is holding up a potential peace deal, while he said the Kremlin leader is ready to end the war. He said this in an interview Reuters.
Trump noted that, in his opinion, Vladimir Putin is ready to negotiate.
"I think he's ready to make a deal. Ukraine is less ready for that," — said the head of the White House.
When asked why the peace talks had not yet yielded results, Trump answered in one word: "Zelensky". When reporters asked him to explain why the Ukrainian president was allegedly stalling the negotiations, Trump added:
"I just think it's hard for him to do it."
When asked if he would meet with Zelensky at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week, Trump said he would, but hinted that there were no plans yet.
"I would meet if he were there, — said Trump. — I will be there.
According to him, the negotiations are continuing in difficult conditions, but, according to Trump, it is Ukraine's position that is currently holding back their accelerated completion.
In addition, Trump told Reuters that he knew nothing about a potential upcoming trip by Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow, which was reported by Bloomberg earlier on Wednesday.
