Two people familiar with the conversation between Trump and Zelensky said the US president asked his Ukrainian counterpart whether he could strike military targets deep inside Russia if he provided weapons capable of doing so.
“Vladimir, can you hit Moscow? … Can you hit St. Petersburg too?” — Trump asked during the conversation.
According to sources, Zelenskyy replied: "Absolutely. We can if you give us a gun."
Trump announced his support for this idea to "make them (the Russians) feel the pain" and force the Kremlin to sit down at the negotiating table, two sources added to the publication.
