US President Donald Trump has lashed out at CBS News, which interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the "60 Minutes" program, accusing them of spreading fake news and threatening to revoke the channel's license. He wrote about this on his social network TruthSocial.
His statement came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview to the TV channel.
"Almost every week, 60 Minutes, which is being sued for billions of dollars for fraud they committed in the 2024 presidential election with their interview with losing presidential candidate Kamala Harris, mentions the name 'Trump' in a disparaging and defamatory manner," — he wrote
Trump said that the television station distorted the facts in two stories about him - regarding Ukraine and Greenland.
"One of them was related to Ukraine, which I say is a war that would never have happened if I had been president, and the other story was related to Greenland, representing our country, which I led, falsely, inaccurately and fraudulently," — he wrote
Trump did not mention Zelensky by name in his post, but called the story "untrue and defamatory, and CBS - fake news."
Trump called on Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr to impose maximum fines and punish the channel “for their illegal and wrongful behavior.” CBS has not yet commented on the president’s words.
As a reminder, Zelensky expressed the opinion that Russian narratives currently prevail in the United States. Therefore, he invited US President Donald Trump to Ukraine to see the real situation with his own eyes.
