At the Munich Security Conference

The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to present a plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference in Germany next week, the Kremlin said, citing sources. Bloomberg edition.

The plan will be presented to allies by Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The sources declined to say how detailed they thought the discussions would be or what format they would take.

The proposal is said to be presented at a conference Feb. 14-16 in the Bavarian city, a week before Russia's war reaches its three-year mark. Reports and comments by Kellogg and others in recent weeks have hinted at a plan aimed at achieving what Trump allies have called "peace through strength."

According to sources, the plan includes potentially freezing the conflict and leaving the Russian-occupied territories in limbo, as well as providing Ukraine with security guarantees that would ensure that Moscow cannot attack again.

The article says that Ukraine's membership in NATO as the ultimate security guarantee is a prospect that Kyiv recognizes as unlikely in the short term. President Volodymyr Zelensky said this week that he is open to post-war elections as soon as martial law is lifted.
