Stoltenberg on aid to Ukraine: not charity, but investment in one's own security

Stoltenberg added that a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will be held this week

Military aid to Ukraine in the war with Russia is not charity. These are investments in the own security of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. About this said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"We can never take peace for granted. But there is no immediate military threat to any NATO ally. NATO will continue to ensure that there is no room for miscalculation in Moscow regarding our readiness and determination to protect all allies." he declared.

Stoltenberg added that a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council and a virtual meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine under the leadership of the United States will be held this week.

"Both of these meetings will be devoted to our support. We continue to help Ukraine move closer to NATO standards in everything from procurement to logistics. Allies continue to make large shipments of weapons, equipment and ammunition. This support brings real benefits," — NATO Secretary General emphasized.

He noted that with the help of allies, "brave Ukrainians recaptured half of the territory captured by Russia, opened a corridor in the Black Sea and inflicted heavy losses on Russian troops."
