Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said Thursday that China strongly opposes the restrictions as a means of interfering and restricting normal economic and trade exchanges between Chinese and Dutch companies.
Late last year, the United States introduced a series of export restrictions against China, including a ban on the supply of certain semiconductor chips that are manufactured anywhere in the world on American equipment.
There are three main manufacturers of chip equipment in the US: Applied Materials, KLA Corp. and Lam Research Corp. Together with the Japanese Tokyo Electron Ltd. and the Netherlands' ASML Holding NV they dominate the industry.
