North Korean soldiers will not affect the war - Estonian intelligence

north korea

The participation of North Korean units on the Ukrainian front will not bring much change so far, and they will probably suffer heavy losses. Notified Commander of the Intelligence Center of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia, Colonel Ants Kiviselg.

Commenting on the arrival of the North Korean military in the Kursk region, Kiviselg noted that the North Korean military probably arrived there in early October, where they underwent preliminary training that lasted from two to four weeks.

After that, according to him, "their redeployment to the Ukrainian front has begun."

"It is expected that, in total, North Korea has promised to send 10-12 thousand military personnel to the Russian Federation, including 500 officers and three generals. The arrival of North Korean soldiers to the Ukrainian front is likely to take place in stages. The next North Korean units will arrive on the Ukrainian front in the coming weeks."

He noted that, as a rule, North Korean soldiers are trained to conduct military operations in mountainous terrain, which means that they are not familiar with Ukrainian territory, its climate and geography.

"And likewise, their training does not involve conducting hostilities in such conditions. The training they undergo in the Russian Federation is certainly not of a very high level. Therefore, we can expect that North Korean units will suffer heavy losses in Ukraine, and probably even greater losses than the forces of the Russian Federation have suffered so far."

However, according to Kiviselg, it is possible that North Korea will continue to send units to Russia and the Ukrainian front.

"However, the current intelligence assessment remains that this deployment of North Korean units in Ukraine will continue", he emphasized.

At the same time, according to the military, it will not bring big changes to the front.

"But if this additional deployment of units to Russia, their training, and then their arrival on the Ukrainian front continues in the long term, it could certainly bring some changes to the front line."
