A well-known military officer and blogger, Kyrylo Sazonov, expressed doubts about the advisability of recruiting people aged 60+ into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In a commentary on the air of the program "Ranok.LIVE" he noted, that in the conditions of modern warfare, even despite technological advancements, physical endurance remains critical.
"The army is about physical exertion. And I'm betting on the youth," he declared.
According to Sazonov, even drone pilots who perform high-tech work often have to operate in extreme conditions at ground zero — moving quickly, camouflaged, and launching equipment under fire.
"An FPV drone operator doesn't sit in an office. This means going to the front, two cases with drones, camouflage, working under a gun. Without physical endurance, you can't do anything there." — the soldier explained.
He also added that people over 50 no longer have the stamina that young people do, and learning new technologies is more difficult for them: "The heads are a little lighter in the young than in us older ones."
At the same time, Sazonov admits that some people aged 60+ can be useful to the army in relevant positions.
"There are people, there are functions they can perform. The brothers who are involved in recruiting say: there are those who want to, and there is work for them," he concluded.
