The situation around Greenland disrupted the signing of the recovery plan for Ukraine — FT

European opposition to US President Donald Trump's intentions to establish control over Greenland and his "Peace Council" initiative has thwarted plans to sign an agreement between Ukraine and the US on post-war reconstruction in Davos.

As the newspaper reported Financial Times The planned announcement of an $800 billion economic development plan that was to be agreed upon by Ukraine, Europe and the United States at the World Economic Forum in Davos has been postponed, citing six officials.

"Nothing has been signed yet," one official said. Another said European capitals cannot simply ignore the US president's actions on Greenland while trying to make progress on other Trump-related issues, such as Ukraine.

"No one is in the mood to make a grand show around the deal with Trump right now," said a third official, adding that the dispute over Greenland and the Peace Council had "overshadowed" previously planned attention to Ukraine at the Alpine meeting.

Tensions between the United States and European capitals over Greenland have disrupted talks on the document between senior national security officials this week, three people familiar with the discussions said. The United States did not send a representative to the talks Monday night, they said.

"The mood has changed," – said one senior EU diplomat, referring to the Greenland crisis.

"He (Trump) has crossed a line, and we can't pretend it's business as usual."

At the same time, the publication's sources said that the "prosperity plan" is not being postponed indefinitely, six officials said, and it could still be signed later.

Davos Forum

Recall that it was initially planned that Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky would meet in Davos and sign an agreement on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine worth $800 billion, but later the media reported the cancellation of this meeting.

At the same time, Zelenskyy said that he will be in Kyiv until the evening for a meeting on the restoration of energy and heat supply after the Russian attacks, but is ready to go to Davos and meet with Trump if documents on the agreement are ready or there is a decision on air defense or energy packages.
