Hungary, following Mongolia and Tajikistan, has refused to arrest Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on a warrant from the International Criminal Court. About this said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Petero Sijarto.
Szijjártó made it clear that Putin should not fear the prospect of arrest under an ICC warrant in Hungary when the Russian president arrives in Budapest for a summit with US President Donald Trump.
According to Szijjártó, the date and details of the Trump-Putin meeting will be known later, when they are discussed by officials from the three countries. Budapest is said to be ready to "provide the appropriate conditions" for the talks, because Hungary is supposedly "one of the safest countries in the world."
At the same time, Szijjártó made it clear that Budapest would ignore the arrest warrant for Putin issued by the ICC. Moreover, Putin is being awaited “with respect” in Hungary.
"We respectfully await President Vladimir Putin, of course. We will provide him with the opportunity to enter Hungary, hold successful negotiations here, and then return home. No agreements with anyone are needed," the Hungarian minister said.
