The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the latest signals from of the United States regarding the possible refusal of the role of mediator in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi, during a briefing, transmits UNIAN correspondent.
According to the spokesman, these actions are part of US communication strategy, not the official position
"We have seen public comments and signals, including from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. We believe this is an attempt to speed up the peace process. We have not received any official announcements about the US withdrawal from the peace process," — said the Silent One.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that they treat such statements calmly and constructively, without dramatizing the situation.
"Complex diplomatic work is happening now, and it often takes place behind closed doors. But we believe in Ukrainian diplomacy and our ability to work miracles," — added Tykhy.
Separately, the Foreign Ministry spokesman commented on Donald Trump's statements: "President Zelensky has repeatedly stressed respect for Trump's determination. We believe that he sincerely wants to stop the war."
Tykhyi recalled that Ukraine proved its readiness for peace when it supported an unconditional ceasefire on March 11. Russia, however, did not agree.
