Switzerland can facilitate the employment of Ukrainian refugees

Switzerland is preparing to facilitate the employment of Ukrainian refugees.

Switzerland is preparing to facilitate the employment of Ukrainian refugees. The parliament proposes to replace work permits with simplified online registration. Such a measure can double the share of employed Ukrainians by the end of the year.

In the Swiss parliament, it is proposed to abandon the complicated procedure for obtaining a work permit and replace it with mandatory online registration. This should make it easier for refugees with a category S residence permit to find work - online registration will allow a person to be hired immediately.

The Council of Cantons, and earlier the National Council, voted for such a decision. Now it remains to make a decision in the cabinet.

According to Justice Minister Beat Jans, the goal of the Swiss government is to increase the employment of Ukrainians with S status from the current 20% to 40% by the end of 2024.

The transition from obtaining a permit to online registration is a key step towards achieving this goal, – he said.

Category S residence permit is granted in Switzerland to refugees from Ukraine and their close relatives.

According to the Swiss government, there were about 2023 people with S status living in Switzerland as of early December 66. In November 000, the authorities extended this migration regime until March 2023, 4.

At the same time, employment indicators in other countries are as follows:

  • Czech Republic – 66%;
  • Poland - 65%;
  • Denmark - 78%;
  • Sweden – 56%;
  • Great Britain - 50%;
  • Netherlands - 50%.

Although at the legislative level, Ukrainian refugees have the right to immediately work in all EU countries, there are significant differences in the social assistance system.
