In the city of Pyriatyn in the Poltava region, on February 1, an attack occurred at a gas station on a serviceman of the Poltava RTCC and SP. This was reported by the press service Land Forces Command.
"On February 1, 2025, at a gas station in the city of Pyriatyn, during the escort of conscripts to the 199th training center, a blatant incident occurred - an armed attack on a serviceman of the Poltava District Territorial Center for Recruiting and Social Support (RTCC and SP)", - says the message.
An unknown man in a gray balaclava and pixelated trousers approached a soldier of the Poltava RTCC and SP, threatening him with a hunting rifle, demanding to hand over his weapon. When he refused, the criminal shot the soldier. As a result of a serious wound, the soldier died on the spot.
After the attack, the attacker took possession of the serviceman's assault rifle and fled with one of the mobilized conscripts.
Poltava region police detained a man who shot and killed a soldier of the Poltava RTCC. About this informed Chief of Police of Poltava Region Yevhen Rogachev.
"In order to promptly detain armed criminals, we immediately launched a special police operation. Within several hours of operational and investigative measures, we established the location of the attackers. With the involvement of special units of the regional police, the suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It turned out that the shooter was a resident of Poltava region born in 1984. His accomplice is a resident of Poltava born in 1988. During an urgent search, investigators seized the weapon from the attacker. The issue of informing the suspects of suspicions and imposing preventive measures on them is being resolved," — the message says.
