Russia has completed preparations for an attack on the Zaporizhzhya NPP. In the area of four out of six power units, the occupiers placed equipment filled with explosives.
This was announced by the head of military intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, reports The New Statesman.
"The plan for a terrorist attack on the ZNPP has been fully developed and approved. They can use technical means to speed up the disaster," Budanov said.
As the head of the State Administration of Ukraine noted, an accident at the ZANP may also be caused by the Russians increasing the voltage on the plant's power supply lines. He also reminded about the demining of the cooling pond of the ZNPP and other facilities by the Russian Armed Forces.
Depending on the situation, uncooled nuclear reactors can melt down in 10 hours to 14 days.
"The situation has never been as serious as it is now," said Major General.
According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the order of the aggressor state to carry out a terrorist attack on the ZNPP may be caused by the defeat of the invaders on the left bank of the Dnieper. The creation of a nuclear disaster zone is considered by the Russian Federation as a "safeguard" for the further advancement of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, according to Kirill Budanov, there is a risk that Moscow may launch an attack on the ZNPP with a radiation leak as a "preventive measure" to stop Ukraine's offensive operation and freeze the front line in its current form.
We will remind, earlier President Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated that Russia may be preparing a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The occupiers prepared everything to commit a terrible crime, so the Ukrainian side warned partner countries and other states.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported that law enforcement officers and rescuers are preparing to eliminate the consequences in case the Russian invaders stage a terrorist attack at the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. Headquarters have already been deployed in Ukraine.
