The largest Russian air carrier, Aeroflot, is going to receive five Boeing 737 freighters from the Volga-Dnipro group in order to use them for spare parts. About this reported the Russian "Kommersant", writes The Moscow Times.
According to the publication's sources, we are talking about 21-22-year-old boarders worth from 1,4 billion to 1,9 billion rubles each.
The rights to their use belong to the Atran structure, which is part of Volga-Dnipro.
"Aeroflot" intends to agree on the transfer of leasing rights and conclude an insurance settlement agreement with the owner of the planes - the Irish company AerCap. At the same time, "Aeroflot" wants to transfer the planes to its "daughter" — to the Pobeda low-cost carrier.
However, it will be too difficult and "unreasonably expensive" to convert cargo planes into passenger planes under sanctions, Kommersant sources say. Therefore, Aeroflot intends to remove engines, landing gear racks, avionics and other components from them.
