Almost half of electronics in Russia turned out to be counterfeit after the release of Western brands. About this write Kommersant citing data from IQ Technology analysts.
In 2024, the share of counterfeit electronics in Russia reached from 21% to 54%, depending on the product category.
Although the total volume of counterfeits decreased by 2023% compared to 10, the situation remains critical in some categories: fake smartphones have become 23% instead of 31%, laptops - 21% instead of 30%, and headphones - 54% instead of 69%.
The most common counterfeit products are products from well-known brands — Apple, Marshall, JBL. These products fall into the category of so-called A-brands, and it is in this segment that the volume of counterfeiting has not changed.
Experts attribute the massive increase in counterfeiting to 2022, when major brands left the country after the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and the government allowed parallel imports. According to lawyers, sellers often mix counterfeit with original products, making it difficult to detect fakes.
