US President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to 33%, the lowest level in both of his terms as president. Nearly two-thirds of Americans surveyed disapprove of his policies, according to a new poll. poll The Economist/YouGov.
According to the poll, 33% of Americans completely or somewhat approve of Trump's job performance as president, the lowest level in both of his terms.
62% of respondents do not support the president's policies, a record high level of dissatisfaction. The net approval rating, that is, the difference between those who are "for" and "against," is minus 29 points.
For comparison: at this same point in his first term, Trump had a net approval rating of minus 10, and then-President Joe Biden had a net approval rating of minus 17.
The lowest levels of support for the president were recorded among women, white Americans, and college graduates.
- Among Democrats, only 4% approve of Trump, while 95% disapprove;
- among independent voters, support is 18% versus 71% who disagree;
- Among Republicans who support the MAGA movement, which is about 60% of the party, support remains high — 92%;
- among Republicans who do not support MAGA, which is about 30% of the party, approval has fallen to 51%.
At the beginning of the year, Trump's support among independent voters was 32%, down from 60%. Now, those numbers have worsened.
Republicans are also losing enthusiasm
Non-MAGA Republicans, who were almost unanimous in their support of Trump at the start of his second term — 90% approval to 6% disapproval — are now split almost evenly.
Only 17% of Americans fully approve of Trump's job performance, a new low for his second term. Among Republicans, less than half, at 48%, fully approve of the president.
Democrats lead ahead of congressional elections
46% of registered voters are ready to vote for the Democratic candidate for the US Congress, compared to 40% for the Republican. The Democrats' six-point lead is the largest since February.
Democrats are supported by almost all of their party's voters — 94%. Among independent voters, a Democrat would receive 43% of the vote compared to 24% for a Republican.
