The prosecutor's office reported suspicions against the director of one of the private companies that illegally mined sand in the Zhytomyr region and caused losses to the state of 2,513 billion hryvnias. About this reported the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The company director was informed about the suspicion by the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zhytomyr region.
According to the investigation, a private company received a special permit from the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine to use subsoil in the territory of the Karpyliv deposit in the Zhytomyr region. An agreement was concluded between this company and the State Geocadastre on the terms of use of the provided subsoil, which clearly defines the boundaries of the subsoil area for development.
"At the same time, during February 2020-May 2024, despite the provisions of the Agreement and in violation of the requirements of current legislation, a private enterprise illegally extracted 113,5 thousand cubic meters of sand from areas of the deposit outside the permitted limits," – stated in the publication.
According to the conclusion of the forensic engineering and environmental examination, the amount of damage caused to the environment is 2,513 billion hryvnias.
Searches were conducted at the location of the deposit, in office premises, and at the residence of the director, owners, and accountants of the business company.
The public prosecutor in the criminal proceedings has prepared a motion to impose a preventive measure on the head of a private company.
