The cyber police of the Lviv region, together with investigators of the District Police Department No. 2 of the regional Main Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor's Office of Lviv, exposed the head of one of the charitable foundations for misappropriating part of the funds that he was collecting for the purchase and delivery of thermal imaging sights, quadcopters, and seven vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Police found out that a 41-year-old resident of Lviv, for the purpose of his own enrichment, convinced victims through various messengers to transfer money to controlled bank cards during 2023-2025. However, he did not fulfill his obligations.
At least 5 victims have been identified so far, including servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a volunteer. The total amount of material damage caused is almost 1,3 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches at the suspect's residence and in his vehicles. Mobile phones and SIM cards, computer equipment, almost two dozen bank cards, documentation, draft notes, and other evidence of illegal activity were seized.
Investigators have informed the head of the charitable foundation of suspicion under parts 2, 3, and 4 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The man faces up to eight years in prison.
Currently, by court decision, the suspect has been remanded in custody with the possibility of bail. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
