In Poland, families of refugees from Ukraine will be fined if their children do not attend school or kindergarten. From the new academic year, offline learning will become mandatory for them. About this reported the Polish publication In Poland. Proceedings may even be opened against parents whose children do not attend educational institutions.
Currently, there are 134 Ukrainian children in the Polish education system, but from September the number may increase by another 80. The Ministry of Education of Poland under the leadership of Barbara Nowatska wants to change the regulations regarding the organization of education, upbringing and care of children and youth from Ukraine.
If Ukrainian parents do not comply with this requirement, it will lead to enforcement proceedings and a fine of 100 zlotys. And from 2025, such families will be deprived of payments in the amount of 800 zlotys.
The department notes that due to the innovation, the number of classes will have to increase so that all children can be comfortably accommodated. Currently, according to the norms, the number of students in one class should not exceed 25 students, and in special and integrated classes - 20 children. From September 1, 2024, the limit will be increased to 29 students, which will allow four children from Ukraine to be admitted to each class. There is no maximum number of students in senior classes and secondary schools.
As for the number of children in kindergartens and kindergartens (special preparatory classes for applicants — ed.), it will be allowed to increase by 3. In integrated kindergartens, a maximum of two additional children with special needs can be added.
