Poland will be able to defend itself against an enemy attack within one to two weeks. During this time, assistance from NATO allies should arrive. This was stated by the head of the Polish National Security Bureau, Dariusz Lukowski, writes Polsat News.
He noted that it all depends on the situation that may arise when encountering the enemy.
"I think, depending on how this fight goes, this defense could be carried out within a week or two at today's stock levels," he said.
The head of the National Security Bureau said that the Polish army still has a mix of old and new equipment, and the shortage of ammunition mainly concerns outdated equipment.
“All these combat vehicles and platforms that we have introduced into the armed forces in recent years are also being supplied with combat vehicles in parallel (…). In this case, the situation looks much better,” — Lukovsky said.
When asked whether it was true that Poland had ammunition reserves for only five days of war, he said: "It depends on what kind of weapons we're talking about, what kind of equipment."
