The next round of peace talks between Ukraine, the US and Russia was to take place on March 5-6 in Abu Dhabi. However, due to hostilities in the Middle East, the meeting in the UAE is in question. This is reported by Bloomberg.
The parties were supposed to meet in Abu Dhabi, but the airspace over the UAE capital is currently closed and explosions are heard there. Sources in Russia told the agency that one of the possible alternative venues is Istanbul.
"Russia and Ukraine still expect planned U.S.-led peace talks to take place this week, even as President Donald Trump's administration continues its military campaign against Iran," Bloomberg writes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the talks could take place in Turkey or Switzerland.
"Due to today's fighting, we cannot confirm Abu Dhabi specifically, but nevertheless, no one canceled the meeting. The meeting must take place, it is important for us, we support this meeting. The meeting is important, the results are important, and the exchange is very important," he said.
It is noted that Ukraine will support any of these platforms for peace negotiations, and a response from partners is now expected.
