Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk became the absolute world champion in heavyweight after a spectacular victory over the British Tyson Fury and added to the collection of personal achievements in boxing.
He won over the British Tyson Fury in one of the most important boxing matches, which lasted all 12 rounds. In the ninth round he sent Fury into a knockdown, but the British man was able to continue the match.
The fight ended with Usyk's victory by split decision of the judges - 115-112, 114-113 and 113-114. And after the final round the boxers hugged warmly, and Fury even kissed Usyk on the forehead.
"I miss my father": Oleksandr Usyk, after winning the title of heavyweight boxing world champion, touchingly remembered his dad, who died 12 years ago.
We will remind, Usyk became the first absolute world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.
Before that, the last "absolute" in heavyweight was Lennox Lewis, who achieved this status in 1999, when he defeated Evander Holyfield. At that time, the WBA, WBC and IBF titles were at stake. The WBO belt was recognized as equivalent in 2007, so Usyk became the first "absolute" in the history of heavyweight with four main titles.
