"During the conversation, which began with congratulations on taking office, the current situation in Ukraine, prospects for NATO expansion and the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East were discussed." - says the message.
In particular, the new NATO Secretary General thanked Poland for its efforts to support Ukraine, and also emphasized the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense systems and improve the logistics of the Armed Forces.
Both politicians agreed that Russian missiles and drones, which violate the borders of NATO countries and over which the Russian army loses control, are becoming a problem.
Speaking about the conflict in the Middle East, Mark Rutte emphasized the numerous military contingents of NATO member states and NATO candidate countries stationed in the conflict zone, for which the situation may pose a threat.
It is also stated on the website of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that on behalf of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Minister Sikorsky invited the new NATO Secretary General to visit Warsaw.
Recall that that Mark Rutte officially took over as NATO Secretary General on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Previously, he was the Prime Minister of the Netherlands.
