A number of changes related to the rules for responding to air raids and more will come into effect in Kyiv starting September 10. The changes were approved by the Capital's Defense Council.
Curfew in Kyiv to be reduced by one hour
Starting September 10, the curfew in the capital will last from 01:00 to 05:00. This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
Due to the schedule change, public transport will also be extended by one hour.
At the same time, the decision will not affect the working hours of catering establishments, entertainment venues, and shopping malls in Kyiv.
The mayor drew attention to the fact that the movement of transit large-sized transport in the capital during curfew has been allowed since September 3.
During the curfew, four bus routes will also be organized to transport people from the Central Station.
How will the metro work during the alarms?
Underground transport adapts schedules and routes depending on the declared level of danger:
- "Green" branch (Syrets-Pechersk): during the "yellow" alert level, it will run without restrictions. Trains will transport passengers across the Southern Bridge from the left to the right bank and back. In the case of the "red" level, traffic will be restricted - trains will run only on two separate sections: from the "Syrets" station to "Vydubychiv" and from "Slavutych" to "Chervony Khutor".
- "Red" branch (Svyatoshynsko-Brovarskaya): in case of any alarm, it will continue to operate in limited mode only on the underground section between the Akademmistechko and Arsenalna stations. For passengers from the Palace of Sports through Arsenalna to Lisovaya, bus No. 1M runs continuously.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers previously recommended that the Kyiv authorities allow the metro to operate fully during "yellow" alerts. However, the Kyiv authorities decided to only partially implement these recommendations.
Rules of traffic on bridges across the Dnieper
Separate schedules and restrictions on bridge crossings have been introduced for road and ground transport:
- South Bridge: During the alarm, traffic will be allowed, but with a technological closure for 30 minutes after the signal is announced and for 30 minutes after the end of the alarm. In addition, the entrance to the bridge from Saperno-Slobidska and Mykhaylo Boychuk streets will be completely closed during the alarm.
- Podilsko-Voskresensky Bridge: will operate according to a similar scheme with a 30-minute technological overlap after the alarm is announced and cleared, as well as with the introduction of reverse movement.
- Other bridges: Darnytskyi, Pivnichnyi, as well as Paton Bridge and Metro will operate as usual without additional restrictions.
Shopping center operation and ban on mass events
All entertainment and physical education and sports events outdoors or indoors without shelter are temporarily prohibited in the city.
During the "yellow" level of danger in the capital, ASCs and social institutions will continue to operate. At the same time, safety protocols for the work of educational institutions and medical institutions have not been changed.
Also, according to the mayor, business entities of various forms of ownership — Shopping centers, cafes and other establishments will be able to operate subject to compliance with the conditions set by the Cabinet of Ministers. This includes strict adherence to safety rules, as well as ensuring access to the shelter for staff and visitors. At the same time, work will be completed during "yellow" alarms.
Alert level notifications are already available in the Kyiv Digital application.
