In Germany, the federal police will soon be allowed to shoot down and intercept drones after a series of suspicious incidents. The government is preparing a law. This was announced by the German Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt, reports The Guardian.
Introducing the relevant bill, Dobrindt noted that the police will have the right to "use the most modern technical measures against threats posed by drones, for example, using electromagnetic pulses, jamming, GPS interference, as well as physical means."
"This means that intercepting and shooting down drones will be regulated and possible for the Federal Police in the future," — said the minister.
According to him, Germany is studying modern technologies for countering UAVs from its allies — Israel and Ukraine.
In addition, there are plans to create a joint drone defense center for state and federal police, which will develop situational reports and coordinate “joint countermeasures.”
