The NBU increased the dollar exchange rate against the hryvnia and introduced a number of innovations

For the first time since the beginning of the war, the NBU increased the exchange rate of the dollar against the hryvnia.

Thus, from July 21, 2022, the National Bank of Ukraine increased the official exchange rate of the US dollar to the hryvnia by 25% to UAH 36,5686/dollar.

"This step will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian manufacturers, bring exchange rates closer to different groups of businesses and the population, and support the stability of the economy in wartime conditions."

In addition to the course change, the NBU made a number of other decisions that will take effect on July 21:

  • Now banks will be able to sell non-cash to citizens with subsequent placement on deposit for a period of three calendar months without the right of early termination within the monthly limit of UAH 50.
  • The limit for withdrawing cash from hryvnia cards abroad has been changed from monthly to weekly — up to UAH 12,5 thousand in the equivalent of seven calendar days.
  • The monthly limit on P2P transfers abroad from hryvnia cards of Ukrainian banks has been reduced from UAH 100 equivalent to UAH 30.
  • A monthly limit has been set for payments abroad using hryvnia payment cards in the amount of UAH 100 equivalent from all client bank accounts opened in the national currency.
  • The permission for commercial banks to buy cash hryvnias from foreign financial institutions for non-cash foreign currency has been cancelled.
