Recruiting to the ranks of the Armed Forces does not cancel the mobilization process in Ukraine and does not replace conscription. This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Hillaryon Pavlyuk, on the air of the telethon.
He emphasized that Ukrainians may get the false impression that from now on the country will be protected by "only those who want to, and those who don't want to, therefore don't have to." However, this is not the case.
According to him, when the Ministry of Defense talks about the importance of recruiting, citizens may get the false impression that "now Ukraine is protected only by those who want it, and those who don't want it - that's why it's not necessary." However, such impressions are false, Pavliuk emphasizes.
"Recruiting is, first of all, improving the service, approaches to the mobilization of those people who are ready to serve in the Armed Forces. We offer them voluntarily, without waiting for mobilization or a summons, to join the Armed Forces, we offer a choice of specialties... But this cannot mean that only those who want to serve will serve and that now you can choose only non-combat specialties, despite the fact that the army really has a large the need for various specialties", — explained the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense.
With the help of recruiting, a citizen can not wait for a summons, but voluntarily join the Armed Forces, choose a specialty and place of service. However, "someone has to literally physically defend the country, because the enemy will not destroy itself," Pavlyuk emphasized. And therefore, for the protection of the state, in any case, they will recruit the necessary number of people.
"Of course, we are interested in recruiting as many people as possible through recruiting mechanisms. But, since there is a need to protect the state, we will still select the number of people needed to protect Ukraine. Recruitment mechanisms or mobilization mechanisms - you will still have to choose." - says Pavlyuk.
As reported, on December 19, during the annual press conference, Zelenskyi reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhnyi and the General Staff proposed to mobilize an additional 450-500 thousand people.
