At the "Istanbul Talks", Russia wanted to swap Zelensky for Medvedchuk

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin often says he is ready to return to the so-called Istanbul agreements and supposedly start peace talks with Ukraine. However, Kyiv denies this. About this said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council in Davos.

"There are no Turkish negotiations, because I am the president, I am the negotiator, and in Russia he is the negotiator - Putin. So, I have never met with Putin in Turkey," the head of state emphasized.

Zelensky calls the talks in Turkey "Putin's ultimatums" — "it was the same letter, with some changes, in Turkey."

"They (the Russian Federation — Ed.) said that I should step down, they will replace me with the pro-Russian Medvedchuk. So, I am no longer the president. For me, it is not a problem, our people will vote. I mean, this is not the goal. All of Donbas is Russia, we must recognize it. Then, we must recognize the Russian language, vote and change our Constitution so that we have a neutral status, reduce the army to 50 thousand. Then, we must give up all the weapons, from artillery, everything within 20 km we must destroy and give them. Therefore, there were never any negotiations, this is an ultimatum from a murderer," — says Zelensky.

He added that he sent these people. Then, according to him, "Belarus wanted to organize something, negotiate something, but they again issued an ultimatum."

"Then in Turkey they wanted to organize and President Erdogan asked me: 'Please, they should sit down and talk.'" I said: "'Okay, if you want, they will talk.' They came and again put forward an ultimatum. So, we cannot say that we had any negotiations, because all three times there were ultimatums from Putin," — Zelensky emphasized.
