The National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova has deprived Moldovagaz, a company controlled by Russia's Gazprom, of the status of the country's main supplier of natural gas. About this said in a statement from the Moldovan regulator.
From August 1, 2025, the function of supplying gas to the population and small businesses will be taken over by the state-owned company Energocom, which ANRE has appointed as a supplier with obligations to provide services of general interest for a period of three years.
This decision was made due to the fact that Moldovagaz failed to comply with the requirement to separate gas transportation and supply activities, which is mandatory under Moldovan legislation.
This step, as explained by ANRE, is aimed at guaranteeing a continuous supply of energy carriers.
