Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could influence the end of the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation (RF). In particular, negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow could take place on the territory of India. This was announced by the President of Ukraine interview The Times of India.
As Zelensky noted, Modi is the prime minister of a huge country in terms of population, economy and influence.
"Such a country cannot simply say that we are interested in ending the war - we are all interested in this. Prime Minister Modi can influence the end of the war with Ukraine. This is its enormous value in any conflict. This is a huge value of India," — explained the president.
He added that blocking Russia's economy, cheap energy resources, and the enemy's defense-industrial complex (OPK) would reduce Moscow's ability to wage war against Ukraine.
In addition, India could organize negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. However, for this, it is necessary to prepare and organize a dialogue in accordance with the Ukrainian format, since the war continues on our territory. In addition, Ukraine has its own platform, namely the Peace Summit.
Zelensky added that the recently announced victory plan is not a bargaining chip or a topic of negotiations with Russia. In particular, this applies to the invitation of Ukraine to NATO.
"This is the third hard winter for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people... We are strengthening our energy systems step by step and will not allow Russia to simply kill our people," — said Zelensky.
Answering a question about the recently released Victory Plan and Ukraine's membership in NATO, Zelenskyy emphasized that this is an attempt to strengthen Ukraine as a bridge to peaceful negotiations to end the war.
"The victory plan is not a bargaining chip or a topic of negotiation with Russia... We are not asking for quick NATO membership because that is not possible in wartime... We are asking for an invitation to NATO so that no one can change their mind in the future."
Zelensky also criticized the last BRIS summit in Russia, calling it a failure and referring to the absence of some countries at the leadership level, including Saudi Arabia and Brazil.
"Putin wants to divide the world into the so-called West-plus and BRICS-plus... Even the (peace) proposals of Brazil and China were unacceptable to him... It was a slap in the face for China and Brazil."
In response to Modi's statement that he is ready to work to establish peace in Ukraine, Zelensky called for action, not just talk.
"Modi is the prime minister of a really huge country... Such a country cannot simply say that we are interested in ending the war... Prime Minister Modi can influence the end of the war... blocking the Russian economy, blocking cheap energy resources, blocking the defense industry Russia's complex will lead to a decrease in Moscow's ability to wage war against us."
In particular, Zelensky asked Modi to help return Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia: “You can get Putin to return the Ukrainian children... Prime Minister Modi can use his influence and say to Putin, just give me 1000 Ukrainian children to be returned to Ukraine. Let Prime Minister Modi return at least 1000 Ukrainian children."
