While cleaning a sewer collector on Balkivska Street in Odessa, municipal services encountered unusual finds. Among the garbage that ended up in the sewer, they discovered a mattress, a duvet cover, a car bumper, and other large objects.
Experts note that such "surprises" significantly complicate work and lead to serious network congestion.
According to utility workers, when flushing the collector, they regularly find large amounts of garbage — from hygiene products, including feminine pads and baby diapers, to various footwear: rubber slippers and boots.
Every day, two garbage trucks weighing about 17 tons each were removed from the collector. Due to the large amount of waste in the system, a forklift even had to be launched.
"It was extremely difficult, but we didn't give up. Over 240 meters of the collector were washed in three months of hard work. And the work continues - meter by meter," Infoxvodokanl emphasized.
Municipal services once again remind residents: "Sewerage is intended only for the removal of wastewater, not for the disposal of garbage. Improper use of the system leads to accidents, complex repairs and significant cleanup costs."
