The Seimas of Lithuania adopted a resolution for the NATO summer summit in Vilnius. It includes an official invitation to Ukraine to join the alliance.

On Thursday, April 6, the Lithuanian Seimas unanimously supported the resolution, which fixed Lithuania's position on the eve of the July NATO summit in Vilnius. The document establishes the position of Lithuania regarding the main goals of the state, which require coordination at the level of the NATO leadership.
The document states that Ukraine should be invited to join NATO at the NATO summit in Vilnius, and to sign membership protocols and start the ratification process when conditions permit.
Lithuanian parliamentarians believe that such a step will be a strategic decision by NATO in pursuit of peace in Ukraine and Europe.
"We are against gray security zones, we want to prove the thesis that Russia has the right to veto Ukraine's membership. We think that Ukraine will contribute to our security, make NATO stronger," said the head of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, Zhigimantas Pavillionis.
The resolution also emphasizes the need to strengthen defense in the Baltic region, increase the number of NATO troops in Lithuania to the level of a brigade and improve the country's air defense.
It should be noted that the summit of NATO countries will be held in Vilnius on July 11-12. For the first time, Lithuania will host 40 delegations from member countries and partners of the alliance.
