The number of Ukrainians who believe in quick accession to the European Union has decreased by almost 4,5 times compared to 2022, when there were more than 60% of them.
This is evidenced by the results poll "Success or not? How Ukrainians evaluate the reform of law enforcement agencies and support for the EU", which was conducted by the sociological group "Rating".
As the survey shows, the respondents have different views on the deadline for Ukraine to become a member of the EU.
In particular, 15% believe that it will happen in the next one to two years, but the most common time frame is up to five years - it was chosen by 28%.
According to the fourth part, it will happen in the next 5-10 years, and 12% of respondents are inclined to the period from 10 to 20 years. Another 14% believe that Ukraine will never become part of the EU.

In dynamics, the number of those who believe in quick accession to the EU is also decreasing. The number of those who believe that EU membership is possible within one or two years has decreased from 66% in 2022 to 15% in 2024.
43% of respondents agree with the statement that Ukraine must join the EU, and more often it is residents of Kyiv and the West and older respondents.
At the same time, 48% of respondents agree more with the position that Ukraine may not join the EU, but should strengthen economic ties with it.
And 7% believe that Ukraine does not need to integrate into the EU at all, and this opinion is somewhat more widespread among groups with a lower income.

From joining the European Union, respondents most often expect the fight against corruption (41%), cooperation in the field of security and defense (36%) and security guarantees (35%).
In addition, economic cooperation (27%), financial support (26%), reform of the judicial and law enforcement system (21%); observance of rights and freedoms, improvement of the economic situation (19% each).
Access to education and legal employment abroad is expected by 15% and 12%, respectively. The least expected result is an increase in public activity - 2%.

According to the survey, opinions regarding the EU's interest in Ukraine's accession to it are divided: 48% believe that the EU is interested, 50% have the opposite opinion.
The survey was conducted from September 24 to 29, 2024, by order of the EU Consultative Mission in Ukraine, by the method of telephone interviews using a computer. The sample consisted of 2000 respondents, and the margin of error is 2,2%.
