The G8 countries of the North-Baltic region announced new support packages for Ukraine

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov took part in the Nordic-Baltic 8 meeting, where the Baltic and Northern European countries presented new initiatives to support Ukraine. In particular, they announced an increase in military assistance. This was reported by  Facebook Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov.

The Minister of Defense participated in the Nordic-Baltic 8 meeting, at which the defense ministers of Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania presented new initiatives to support Ukraine in the war against Russia.

Sweden, In particular, it announced the preparation of a new large package of military assistance, which will include strengthening Ukraine's air defense. The deliveries of this equipment are planned to be carried out this year.

Norway also made a significant statement, announcing the allocation of 7,8 billion euros for 2025, one of the largest aid budgets for Ukraine among European countries. These funds will be directed to strengthening maritime capabilities, air defense systems, as well as training Ukrainian military personnel within the framework of the “Nordic-Baltic Brigade”. Additionally, investments are envisaged in the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.

Lithuania is actively working to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system and invest in the defense-industrial complex, while maintaining priority in the supply of artillery shells.

Latvia focuses on providing Ukrainian units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the necessary equipment, as well as on developing cooperation in the field of defense industry. Iceland participates in investments in the Ukrainian defense industry within the framework of the "Danish model".

Finland is working on the supply of artillery shells and preparing a new package of military assistance, while Estonia is actively preparing new supplies of shells and is ready to join the training of the "Nordic-Baltic Brigade". Denmark, in turn, is considering the possibility of additional investments in the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.

"The Nordic and Baltic countries remain some of our most loyal allies. They are not only increasing military assistance, but also actively supporting the development of our defense industry," — Rustem Umerov emphasized, highly appreciating the important role of these countries in Ukraine's struggle for its independence.

Nordic-Baltic 8

This is an informal grouping of eight countries: five Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) and three Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). The group was established to promote cooperation and exchange of experiences in various areas such as security, economy, culture and energy.

It also focuses on supporting democracy, stability and development in the region. Regular meetings of the ministers of defense, foreign affairs and other government representatives of the NB8 countries discuss current security and cooperation issues, including support for Ukraine in the context of the war with Russia.
