The USA has assured Kyiv that Russian assets frozen in the West will be seized and transferred to Kyiv. Later, this money will be used to finance the reconstruction of the country. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, in an interview Politico.
"We have all the guarantees from the US regarding long-term support to Ukraine — for example, the confiscation of Russian assets to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine," — he said.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister also noted that negotiations between the United States and Ukraine on the allocation of financial assistance are ongoing. He added that this money is important for Kyiv.
"On the one hand, this will allow us to finance our budget, on the other hand, it will allow us to implement the process of rapid recovery of Ukraine, despite the war," - said the prime minister.
When asked whether he is afraid of the second coming of Donald Trump to the White House, Shmyhal replied that most Americans support Ukraine.
"I believe that any president of the United States will support our struggle for civilized values, our shared values." he said.
Commenting on Trump's statement that he could end the war in 24 hours, Shmyhal said:
"There is no one who would like to end this war more than Ukrainians. We believe that President Zelensky's peace plan is the only tool for achieving a long-term and sustainable peace."
