SBI officers detained and reported the former commander of a division of one of the military units in the Kherson direction on suspicion, who systematically extorted money from his subordinates. The amount of illegal extortions received by the official amounts to at least UAH 1 million, reported in the department.
The SBI noted that the attacker actually "sold" vacations to servicemen, and then hid their absence from the command. In addition, he demanded money from the servicemen, threatening them with punishment for alleged violations of service discipline.
"Subordinates who fell for the commander's "hook" paid him not only with money, but also with services, buying him household and computer equipment, as well as things for children. According to operational data, in 2023-2024, the official "earned" almost 1 million UAH in this way.", — the State Bureau of Investigation reports.
Thanks to cooperation with military personnel, SBI officers exposed the attacker.
The official was detained in Mykolaiv, he was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 and Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving a bribe in an especially large amount and abuse of official authority). The articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Currently, the defendant has been given a preventive measure - detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 1 million 200 thousand hryvnias.
