In the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, no one wanted to work with communications, but there was such a need. The Ministry wanted all communications of the Defense Forces to have a one voice policy. They searched for a person for this for a long time, but everyone refused. This is how Kyrylo Tymoshenko got into the Ministry of Defense. "Colleagues said that there is a cool specialist. I asked the anti-corruption officers if he was a professional. They said: yes. Do you have any questions for him? Did I know that I would be criticized for this decision? Yes. I focused on the goal that my country needs, not me personally." said the minister.
To the comment that Tymoshenko was dismissed from his previous job in the President's Office with a scandal, the Minister of Defense replied: "I am very clearly focused on the goal. I needed to rebuild mine. If I only invite everyone in a white coat to the team... I knew him very well. I came and said: "Kyril, what are the goals, will you be able to take this height?". He said, "Yes." Okay, so your vertical is like that. Did I know that I would be criticized for this decision? Yes. I focused on the goal that my country needs, not me personally." Umerov assured.

Regarding Tymoshenko's appointment, international partners had comments. According to Umerov, he talked about it with diplomats, and said that if there are any questions about him, he will pass them on to the law enforcement officers.
"I asked Kirill if he had any questions from the law enforcement or anti-corruption authorities, so that he should consult with a lawyer or something. When I hired him, he said that NAZK had no questions for him. You know, today not only authorities can destroy a reputation, but also, say, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter." - believes the minister.
Umerov denied that Tymoshenko is engaged in the ministry not only in communications, but also in fortifications. According to the minister, he asked Tymoshenko not to do this until he addresses him.
