Fraudsters are spreading messages via social networks and messengers about the possibility of receiving a promotional code for 10 liters of fuel for subscribing to the Telegram channel. According to the head of the 9th department (operational search and partnership in the field of information technologies) of the Criminal Procedure Code in Kyiv, Andriy Parkhomenko, it was emphasized that such super offers are the most favorite tool of fraudsters. After all, behind the loud promises is not a discount or bonus, but the risk of losing access to your own accounts.

How does this scam scheme work?
1. The message contains a link to a phishing page stylized as the official website of gas stations.
2. On such a page, they offer to subscribe to the Telegram channel and receive a promo code for free fuel.
3. Next, the user is redirected to another fraudulent page, where they are asked to enter a phone number and a confirmation code from SMS or Telegram.
4. After entering the data, attackers gain access to the user's account and use it to send new fake messages.
5. Within 24 hours, scammers end the user's active session and activate two-factor authentication, making it difficult for the real owner to regain access to their account. As a result, the person loses control of their account in less than a day.
How not to be fooled?
1. Always check information through official sources. Are you interested in a promotion? Go to the company's official website and check.
2. Do not click on suspicious links from SMS, instant messengers, or email.
3. Check the sites where you enter personal data.
