Kazakh specialists service the Russian Su-30SM using French Thales and Safran equipment despite the sanctions. About this reported in the Inform Napalm study.
The Kazakh company ARC Group cooperates with the Russian military and maintains Russian Su-30SM aircraft equipped with French THALES and SAFRAN aviation equipment.
It is reported that as of 2024, Russia has up to 130 units of modernized Su-30SM fighters. During the great war, the Russians lost no less than 15 such boards.
The message indicates that the Russian Federation could have lost much more due to sanctions, because the Su-30SM aircraft use foreign-made avionics, mainly from the French companies THALES and SAGEM (and after the takeover of the latter - SAFRAN). And the equipment must be constantly serviced in order to continue operating the boards.
Devices can only be serviced by specialists certified by the manufacturer using the same equipment. After the full-scale invasion, Russia allegedly lost access to such opportunities, but the Russian side found an excellent channel for circumventing sanctions in the Kazakh contractor.
Kazakhstan limited liability company "Analyst Research Consulting Group" was established in 2014. As indicated on the website "the company is the exclusive distributor of Safran Electronics & Defense in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and is engaged in the promotion of Safran products in these countries."
The main customers of products are state bodies and law enforcement agencies. Back in October 2021, ARC Group concluded the first contract with the narrow-profile Russian company with limited liability "Repair, maintenance, supply of aviation with special components" (LLC "Rosaviaspetskomplekt").
It is noted that the subject of the contract can be formulated as follows - the Kazakh side, having specialists and equipment certified by the French, must repair French equipment on Russian Su-30 aircraft.
Moreover, the Russians pay for the provision of a full cycle of turnkey services - from the training and certification of Kazakh specialists in France, to the purchase of the necessary equipment from the French.
Of course, the documents concluded with French companies contain export control regulations with a direct prohibition to transfer any goods to the Russian Federation. However, the study cites similar contracts with the Russians that are almost identical in terms and amounts, which indicates that the Kazakh side has not fulfilled its promises.
