European Union countries are calling for the urgent transfer of missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from their own warehouses to Ukraine. This was stated by European Commission spokeswoman Anita Hipper during briefing.
Strengthening Ukraine's air defense is called an absolute priority in the EU. According to Gipper, the head of European diplomacy, Kai Kallas, made an appeal to the governments of EU member states that have Patriot missiles in stock.
A spokeswoman for the European Commission noted that Kallas is in constant contact with European governments to ensure an increase in the volume and speed of ammunition supplies for Ukraine's needs.
In addition to transferring weapons from warehouses, the European Union has stepped up work on joint procurement. In particular, procedures for purchasing weapons through the SAFE program, in which Ukraine also participates, are being accelerated.
