The cyber unit of the GUR hacked the servers of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation and attacked the IT company that was engaged in their maintenance.
As reported by the Directorate General of the Ministry of Defense, it is actually about the complete destruction of the infrastructure of one of the main state bodies of Russia and numerous related tax data over a long period of time.
"During the special operation, military spies managed to break into one of the well-protected key central servers of the Federal Tax Service (FSS of the Russian Federation), and then into more than 2300 of its regional servers throughout Russia, as well as in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea." - says the message.
Internet traffic of tax data on the scale of the entire Russian Federation ended up in the hands of military intelligence of Ukraine. According to experts, the paralysis in the work of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation will last at least a month. At the same time, resuscitation of the tax system of the aggressor state in full is impossible.
In parallel, the Russian IT company Office.ed-it.ru, which served the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation, was attacked in the same way.
The GUR says that as a result of two cyberattacks, the configuration files that ensured the operation of the extensive tax system of the Russian Federation for years were completely eliminated — the entire database and its backups were destroyed.
