This week, the Government of Ukraine adopted a decision according to which our compatriots abroad will be able to marry, divorce, and obtain a death and birth certificate. It is reported Government portal.
According to the resolution adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine are empowered to:
- state registration of acts of civil status;
- making changes to act records of civil status, their restoration and annulment;
- reissuance of certificates of state registration of acts of civil status;
- issuance of extracts from the State Register of acts of civil status of citizens.
"Ukrainians will have the opportunity to receive the above services abroad regardless of their place of residence (stay). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should determine the list of foreign diplomatic institutions that will provide services for state registration of civil status acts," the message emphasizes.
This initiative was developed to implement the decisions of the Coordination Headquarters on the return of citizens from temporarily occupied territories and third countries to Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers emphasizes that thanks to the new rules, Ukrainians abroad will have easier access to services in the field of state registration of civil status acts and will shorten the terms of obtaining them at foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine.
The decision will come into effect already in February.
