US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned China of "significant consequences" for its companies if it helps Russia in its war against Ukraine. It is reported Reuters.
Yellen held a meeting with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in the city of Guangzhou on Saturday, April 6. As the publication notes, both sides agreed to continue discussions on balanced growth and financial stability.
Beijing said it expressed concern about US economic and trade restrictions on China.
Instead, the US Treasury Secretary emphasized that Chinese companies will face consequences if they help Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
"Yellen said she warned of significant consequences for Chinese companies if they provide material support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine," — writes Reuters.
The Chinese side emphasized that its policy is not to provide such support and does not want it to be a bilateral issue.
