If Vladimir Putin succeeds in winning and turning Ukraine into a vassal state, he will not stop there. This was stated by Richard Moore, the head of the British Secret Intelligence Service, known as MI6, reports Reuters.
He said that the price of supporting Ukraine is well known, but added: “The price of not fulfilling this requirement will be immeasurably higher. If Putin succeeds, China will weigh the consequences, North Korea will be emboldened, and Iran will become even more dangerous."
Moore noted in a speech in Paris that Russia is waging a campaign of sabotage in Europe while increasing its nuclear weapons rattle to deter other countries from supporting Ukraine.
"Our security - British, French, European and transatlantic - will be put at risk. We recently uncovered a stunningly reckless campaign of Russian sabotage in Europe, while Putin and his henchmen resort to rattling nuclear weapons to sow fear about the consequences. ", he noted.
Moore's speech appeared to be aimed at rallying wavering European allies and any skeptics in the incoming US administration of Donald Trump about the importance of Ukraine.
He joins other Western intelligence chiefs in warning of frequent cases of Russian sabotage.
NATO and Western intelligence agencies have said that Russia is behind a growing number of hostile acts in the Euro-Atlantic region, from repeated cyber attacks to arson attacks.
Last month, the head of British domestic intelligence said that Russia's military intelligence agency, the GRU, was seeking to sow "chaos" across the UK and Europe.
And sources familiar with US intelligence told Reuters this week that Russia is likely to expand its campaign of sabotage against European targets to increase pressure on the West over its support for Kyiv.
Moore added that cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States has made their societies safer and that this will continue.
