Kuleba explained that at that time the issue was whether the United States would provide weapons to Ukraine. To convince partners of the need to provide military support to our state, a “strong, emotional image, a metaphor” was needed.

"But when you spend 80% of your time doing just that, and you get results that no one expected and that exceed all expectations, and then they accuse you of sending people with shovels to war, to be honest, it's annoying," he said.
