DTEK won a lawsuit against Russia regarding assets in Crimea

The arbitration award is subject to enforcement

The International Court of Arbitration in The Hague fully satisfied the claim of the DTEK company against the aggressor country of the Russian Federation for seized assets in the illegally annexed Crimea.

This is stated in message DTEK

"Russia must be under constant pressure - on the battlefield, sanctions, legal. For our part, both I and all my businesses will do everything possible for this. 24/7 we will work to ensure that the enemy is brought to justice and pays for the unleashed war, for every crime against Ukraine and Ukrainians, for violations of international law. The decision of the International Court of Arbitration shows that the world justice system is on the side of truth and justice. I believe in justice and I know for sure that today was only the first step towards restoring the correct world order. And we will follow this path until Russia answers to all Ukrainians for the evil it has brought to our country," said DTEK shareholder Rinat Akhmetov.

It is emphasized that the Arbitration awarded Russia to pay DTEK damages in the amount of $267 million, including interest and court costs as of the date of the decision. The accrual of interest will continue until the moment of full payment of the entire amount of damages.

The arbitral award is enforceable under the 1958 New York Convention.

DTEK plans to immediately initiate the process of recognition and admission to the execution of the decision on the territory of those states where Russian assets are located.

"Today's decision marks another milestone in holding Russia accountable for its expropriation of Ukrainian investments in Crimea," said Covington & Burling LLP partner Marni Cheek, who represented DTEK in the case.
