The number of Ukrainians with temporary protection in Europe is growing. As of August 31, 2023, 4 million 155,6 thousand citizens who left Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion had the status of temporary protection in EU countries.

4 million 155 thousand people from Ukraine are already using temporary protection in Europe. 98% of them have Ukrainian citizenship. Three EU countries receive the largest number of refugees: Germany (1 people; 175% of the total number of Ukrainian refugees in Europe), Poland (695; 28%) and the Czech Republic (960; 550%).
"Compared to the end of July 2023, the number of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine in the EU increased by 41 (+275%)," the statistical office notes.
The largest increase in asylum seekers was in the following countries:
— Germany (+21; +830%);
— the Czech Republic (+7; +545%);
— in the Netherlands (+2; +635%).
Meanwhile, some countries felt the outflow of Ukrainians. Decreased people with temporary protection in three countries:
— Poland (-10; -530%);
— Italy (-550; -0,3%);
— France (-420; -0,6%).
In general, the largest number of Ukrainian refugees in relation to the local population (per 1000 inhabitants) remains in the following countries:
— the Czech Republic (33,7);
— Estonia (26,2);
— Poland (26,1);
— Bulgaria (25,6);
— Lithuania (25,3).
At the EU level, this indicator is on average equal to 9,3 per thousand people.
