The aggravation of the situation in the Middle East currently does not have a negative impact on military assistance to Ukraine. This primarily concerns the supply of American weapons, which is carried out at the expense of allies and partners of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ambassador to NATO in a comment to Radio Liberty Alyona Getmanchuk.
According to the diplomat, the Ukrainian side has not recorded any failures or delays in the transfer of weapons under the special PURL program, despite the tense geopolitical situation in the world.
"Currently, we are not seeing any changes or delays in deliveries under the PURL program due to events in the Middle East. We also do not currently see any impact on the decisions made at the Ramstein format meeting regarding additional air defense assets provided from partner warehouses. Everything is in the works," — Hetmanchuk noted.
The representative of Ukraine to NATO drew attention to the technical aspect of the process. She emphasized that timely financial contributions from the states that pay for weapons from American stocks remain a critically important factor. This is what allows the United States to promptly process requests and make appropriate deliveries to the front.
Separately, the ambassador emphasized the work of Ukrainian diplomacy with partners to accelerate the protection of Ukrainian skies from Russian terror.
"In turn, we explain to NATO member states and Alliance partners that today there are two ways to help us effectively and quickly defend ourselves from massive strikes — primarily ballistic ones: through contributions to the PURL program or by providing us with appropriate interceptor missiles from their warehouses," — Hetmanchuk summarized.
