"This won't work anymore": Zelensky on the possibility of NATO participation in protecting Ukraine's skies

Ukraine is open to the idea of jointly repelling Russian air attacks on Ukraine with neighboring countries, but this requires general coordination of actions, and it is desirable that our country coordinates everything. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

Answering the question of whether there is currently a chance to update the old discussion regarding Ukraine's desire for neighboring countries to help us repel Russian air attacks on Ukraine or to patrol the skies over our country, at least in its western part, he noted that this is a matter of general coordination.

"What we proposed two years ago — shoot down drones over us with planes — won't work like that anymore. This is needed as an element. It will strengthen the "shield" over the western part of Ukraine and over Poland. But it is an element. It's simply not enough," Zelensky emphasized.

According to him, "the systems should be located in the western part of our state, air defense systems."

"And the aviation can be Polish, and also be used on the territory of Poland. But general coordination is needed. And it is desirable that Ukraine coordinates. Because there are 5-7 elements of multi-defense. In some part, this can be done together with the Republic of Poland. We are open to this," — said the head of state.
